Sally Hopkins

Committee member

How long have you been a member of Parish Players and part of the committee?

Ever since I can remember! I first appeared on stage with PP in the 1982 pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, as a fairy at the christening and have been involved ever since.  I have been a member of the committee several times in the past, as under 18 rep and secretary, and have rejoined again in 2026.

What first brought you to Parish Players?

My parents! They have been involved since they were teenagers and I followed as a littlie.  I clearly remember going to watch Sunday rehearsals when I was very young.

What is your most memorable experience being a part of Parish Players?

There are so many wonderful moments after so many years and I have loved them all in their own ways! Some of my proudest, which I remember very fondly, are my first solo song as a very shy teenager ‘Who will buy’ from Oliver, A dancing vampiress in Dracula is Undead and well and living in Purfleet, Ronnette in Little Shop of Horrors and comedy duos in panto. I have also enjoyed using my creativity in backstage roles, fulfilling many of them offer the years. Stage managing is incredibly challenging but equally rewarding when it all comes together. I loved the sets we created for The Importance of Being Earnest and Sisterly feelings. Calendar girls was a great challenge and a wonderful show to be part of.

I loved being a Kit Kat girl in Cabaret - that was fantastic.

If you could describe Parish Players in three words, what would you say?

Welcoming, Encouraging, Fun
