Founded
in 1956, we are a thriving theatre group who meet regularly on Tuesday
evenings in St Mary's Church hall, Merton Park, London SW19 3HJ (Location map)
We
aim to put on at least two productions a year – one a pantomime during
the first couple of weeks of January, followed by a production in May. Visit our past productions page.
The
minimum age for membership is 13, but 12 year olds may join
from 1
September if they become 13 that same academic year.
Recent May productions include 'Dad's Army', 'Sisterly Feelings' by Alan Aykbourn, 'Much Ado About Nothing', Noel
Coward's
'Blithe Spirit', 'Little Shop of Horrors', 'Twelfth
Night', 'Oh What a Lovely War', ‘Hobson’s Choice’ by Harold
Brighouse. ‘Arcadia’ by Tom Stoppard, Wilde’s ‘The Importance
of
Being Earnest’ and ‘Cabaret’.
On occasions we put on productions at other times of the year. For instance, we
performed RC Sherriff's ‘Journey’s End’ in November 1993 and
again
in November 2008, and in we held an evening of readings and songs to
mark the two hundredth anniversary of the death of Merton's most famous
parishioner, Admiral Lord Nelson.
